Go Green
01 I Recycle
‘Unë Ricikloj’ (I Recycle) is an environmental initiative aimed at motivating communities and individuals toward a more sustainable environment with less waste. This initiative offers a comprehensive recycling and ecological service program for sorting and collecting waste in offices, businesses, shopping centers, and beyond. As part of the “I Recycle” project, Vodafone Albania has placed recycling bins for paper, plastic, and waste, becoming part of the recycling scheme offered by this initiative.
02 Albania Cap Project
The main goal of this project is to create a supply chain where, through the recycling of plastic bottle caps, wheelchairs can be provided to people in need.
This way, the initiative contributes to keeping the environment clean—an inheritance we pass on to future generations—and helps equip individuals who lack the financial means to purchase wheelchairs.
03 Go Green
Vodafone Albania is a responsible business committed to a cleaner environment. This translates into a more efficient energy strategy, reduced CO₂ emissions, and a well-defined recycling program across all its operations.
04 Green Stations
We have established green base stations that operate exclusively using renewable energy sources to reduce costs and limit environmental impact from generator use and network consumption demands.
Generators that use oil are part of a system that combines photovoltaic panels to meet the energy needs of base stations.
05 Photovoltaic Systems
We utilize solar energy by installing hybrid photovoltaic systems at base stations located in rural areas that are not covered by the national grid, alongside diesel generators.
06 Use of Photovoltaic Systems
This reduces the consumption of liquid fuels used by the company in remote areas not connected to the national grid, thereby lowering carbon dioxide (CO₂) emissions into the environment.
07 Base Stations
At Vodafone Albania, part of the overall energy consumption is saved through the use of free cooling systems at base stations. These systems use automated fans and sensors to reduce the operating time of air conditioning units by considering the external temperature and relying solely on ventilation in the area to maintain an adequate temperature. This approach reduces energy consumption compared to conventional air conditioners. Where cooling systems cannot be installed, batteries are used, which consume less energy than conventional air conditioners.
08 Energy Saving in Company Offices
The central office building is designed to meet the highest standards of hydro and thermal insulation against noise. It is also equipped with one of the best air conditioning and ventilation systems available on the market.
Using technology to help overcome conservation and sustainability challenges.
WWF and Vodafone believe that everyone can make more environmentally friendly choices in how they use technology. We want to inspire our customers to take actions that can help reduce carbon emissions and lessen the pressure on natural resources.
